Firstly, you need to work out how much rent you can afford. You can do this by working out your monthly outgoings and then what is left is your rent. You also have to take into account council tax, water, electricity and gas bills (if not included in rent). As well as any other bills that will incur such as broadband, line rental etc. For the first month you will have to take into account fees from the letting agent, as well as paying a month’s advance rent and a security deposit, which is usually equal to a month’s rent however can be more.
Once you know how much rent you can afford, you can start your search for a property. You need to take into account what your necessities are, for example, if you need to be within walking distance to a station, close to shops or bus routes etc. When registering your requirements with the letting agent, inform them of your needs and wants as this will be the only way to you finding your perfect property.
Once you have found your perfect property, we will ask you to sign an offering form and fill out referencing papers. Once you have passed referencing and the landlord has accepted your application, we will ask you to pay final monies and sign contracts. This makes your move official, we will then arrange a check in for you and hand over the keys.
